For nearly 40 years, Phil Carson Crickmore has created instruments for people who appreciate the difference between a guitar that is hand-crafted and one that is manufactured. His work as a master luthier is internationally known and respected, and he continues to refine his techniques and knowledge in the pursuit of great instrument-making from his workshop in Castlemaine, Victoria. We are honoured to stock these world-class instruments, constructed by hand in our own backyard.
This stunning, handmade Weissenborn was built by Phil as a showpiece for the Melbourne Guitar Makers Show in 2016, and has been living in a case in Phil's workshop ever since! It's incredibly highly-specced out, with tightly-grained Sitka Spruce top, lightly-figured old-growth Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides, Satin Box binding, a flawless hand-cut Satin Box and Blackwood rosette, and Schaller Grandtune Gold machine heads. The real showstopper though is the hand-buffed ultra-light sunburst finish, which highlights the beautiful timbers and looks spectacular! The fretboard and bridge are finest Honduran Rosewood, with traditional and subtle Weissenborn abalone inlays.
This is a top-shelf handmade Weissenborn, with jaw-dropping tone - it's airy, light and clear, with sensational harmonic complexity and a huge amount of volume. It really needs to be heard to be believed! Another incredible build from one of Australia's master luthiers.
